Description
I have this photo by my bedside which aids me every morning with a “let it flow” mantra as I wake.
It was taken during a hike around the Oirase River in Aomori, the northenmost prefecture of Japan’s Honshu islands. For me the photo captures the flow of the river with a feeling of stillness in the central break between the flowing falls whilst also exhibiting the beautiful, twisting, ancient growth of the tree, it’s wisdom and it’s roots.
Notice the transition of winter snow to spring growth and the solidity of the rocks harbouring life in moss. These unmovable stones have, no doubt, spent an eternity being conditoned by the tremendous power of the water’s flow.
