This depiction of one of the six Deva’s offering to the Big Buddha of Lantau Island sits beneath the legendary Buddha atop its lotus throne replicating Tian Tan (Temple of Heaven)
The Six Deva’s offer flower, incense, lamp, ointment, fruit and music up to the Buddha. These symbolise the Six Perfections (Paramita) of Buddhism upon the path to Enlightenment. Generosity, morality, patience, zeal, meditation and wisdom.
These elements are equally important to realise an enlightened state of Being.
It is said that all Buddha are born as Bodhisattva and only become Buddha after several lifetimes of service. Discovering nirvana and choosing to serve Beings who suffer with compassion as Bodhisattva.
